Welcome to the first building we are going to tour. We have been hard at work remodeling this building and removing carpet and painting. We are still in the process of hanging gyms and ropes for our babies to play on but couldn't wait any longer to show you where we are at in the process. There are two rooms in this building and a bath room. It is equipped with heat and air / water / ventalation / and a great air filter. We will enter the building and tour the room on the right side. This is where we keep our "Small Birds."
We are very pleased with our small bird room. It's taken time and patience to get things exactly how we want them, but it's coming together nicely. Our birds come out daily for "out of cage time" and enjoy the climbing nets, tree toys, and play gyms and swings through out the room. We have pulled carpet out of this room and will be puting new flooring down in the spring.
Yellow plastic chain is hung from one side of the ceiling to the other. toys attached and the birds love to perch and play for hours. We have a special heat and air system with a great air filter installed. There are two windows in this room and plenty of lighting.
This room has a nice storage closet where we keep towels, books, and feed. We also keep a safety curtain up to keep the small birds in their own room during play time.
We take every precaution to keep our flock safe. We don't risk any of our birds getting out
the door when vistors walk in. We are a strong believer that all rooms that house birds should have some sort of safety device over door ways. It's so sad to hear of stories where some one in a family unknowingly opened a door where a bird was lose and flew right out to never be seen again.

As part of our record keeping system, we have every cage marked with the birds name and cage number (# is on back of tag)~ this corresponds with their chart number. This also allows visitors to call the birds by their name, and helps aide in our volunteers learning the birds names quicker.
We find it very important to keep our birds separated by size. The medium size birds are kept in the room on the left. Currently we have Greys and Amazons in this room.

This room is still under construction, but we wanted you to be able to see what we have done thus far. We are trying hard to bring the brightness indoors even in the cold months. We are still in the midst of painting the orange trim.

The birds really are enjoying this room. The real tree branches have added a special touch that the birds all love. We have added so many play time activities and the birds are using all of them for great exercise.

Another side of the room gives a better angle of the various rope swings and large play chains that we have draped from the ceiling. We also have the real tree branch perch right under the window seal. This branch comes out from the wall, though you can't tell from the picture. The birds enjoy perching and watching out side.

Conner, just hanging out and relaxing during "play time."
